The concept of decent work encompasses employment creation and enterprise promotion, social protection, rights at work and social dialogue. The Meeting will identify the opportunities and challenges for realizing decent work as the main pathway out of poverty and for creating a more productive and equitable society in Asia.
28 August 2001 - 31 August 2001, Bangkok, Thailand Thirteenth Asian Regional Meeting In its first regional meeting since the high drama of the Asian financial crisis in 1997 – grouping 39 member States – the ILO’s government, employer and worker constituents discussed a plan for ensuring social protection, rights at work and job creation, as a way of applying its global strategy for decent work to the region’s people and helping them weather global economic turmoil.
09 December 1997 - 11 December 1997, Bangkok, Thailand Twelfth Asian Regional Meeting The International Labour Organization (ILO) adopted a series of wide-ranging Conclusions in which governments, and representatives of workers' and employers' organizations urged the ILO to "vigorously pursue" its opportunities to make an "essential contribution" to the economic and social development of Asia.
