Niger ratified Conventions 155, 161 and 187

On 19th February 2009, Niger ratified the following conventions: the Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 1981 (No. 155), the Occupational Health Services Convention, 1985 (No. 161) and the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 (No.187).

This brings to 36 the number of Conventions ratified by the Niger since it joined the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 1961.

Convention 187, entered into force on 20 February 2009, aims to promote a preventative safety and health culture through raising OSH higher in national agendas by launching national occupational safety and health programmes, as well as through promoting safer and healthier working environments.
