Networks
The extension of social protection in developing countries is a quite recent field of work and represents a real challenge for the international community. Even though during these last years, most experiences of coverage extension have been promising, especially at a local level (micro-insurance, mutual organizations, etc.), these experiences are rare and often unknown. The reinforcement as well as the sharing of knowledge, and the mobilization of intervening actors in this domain are key features for the success of the process of coverage extension at a large scale.
STEP is strongly committed to the creation of innovative forms of networks and partnerships between actors: governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations, social security institutions, civil society, international organizations, public and private sector, as well as social movements.
STEP promotes important networks, among which: The Coordination Network in Africa, AMIN in Asia, ACYM in Latin America and the International Alliance at a global level.
