Occupational Safety and Health Campaign: Salametk Bel Donia

Occupational safety and health (OSH) has been a central issue for the ILO since its inception in 1919, and continues to be a fundamental requirement for achieving its objectives of ensuring Decent Work around the world.

The Egyptian firm Suez Cement has long been sensitive to social responsibility - with a formalized Safety Policy since 2000, success in their Zero Accident Project and consistent respect for and reference to ILO Conventions governing occupational safety and health in the workplace.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Manpower and Migration represented by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and in collaboration with the Egyptian Trade Union Federation and the Federation of Egyptian Industries, SRO-Cairo and Suez Cement will launch in September a pilot multimedia advocacy campaign.

The objective of this campaign is to promote OSH in the cement industry, where work-related accidents and illnesses are particularly common, by raising awareness of key safety hazards and accident prevention measures in the workplace.

To ensure wide dissemination of OSH messages, the campaign will include:

  • A national launching ceremony
  • TV and radio spots
  • Posters to be placed in Metro stations, on public transportation and in the streets
  • Printed materials such as brochures to be distributed to the general public
  • Live interviews on popular TV shows, such as “El Beit Beitak”
